U11s make it four out of five
Friday 11th April 2008, 12:00AM BST.
JERSEY made it four games unbeaten out of five played in the 34th Primary Schools under-11 Football Festival yesterday.
At the FB Fields the hosts secured the second draw in two days sharing two goals with Bath Yellow.
Jack Gibson scored his third goal of the week to cancel out Bath’s tenth-minute opener and Jersey coach Rob Cameron said: ‘The team played well yesterday and I think we had the better possession throughout.
‘Bath took the lead when their striker latched onto a through-ball to score but it only lifted us and ten minutes later we were level. We pressed hard and Jack scored at the near post following an excellent run and cross from the right by Jamie Hamilton.
‘We sat back a little after that and Nicolai Hansen made a good save to keep the scores level. It was even in the second half, with neither side looking like they were going to score as a result of both defences playing well.
‘Jamie Hamilton played well throughout and his work-rate was very impressive.
‘Everyone has enjoyed themselves and I’m happy with their effort and commitment. The festival is a fantastic learning experience for all the players and teams and our squad have been acquitting themselves well.’
