St Paul’s angry at Upton venue
Tuesday 15th April 2008, 12:00AM BST.
NEWLY crowned Jersey football champions St Paul’s are angry that Saturday’s Upton Park Trophy match in Guernsey will be played at The Track – the home of their opponents, Priaulx League champions Belgrave Wanderers.
St Paul’s manager Craig Culkin is even contemplating not fulfilling the fixture if it is not changed.
‘I can’t believe it,’ he said. ‘If the Upton had been in Jersey there is no way we would be allowed to play at St Saviour, so why should Bels be allowed to play on their home pitch? It’s outrageous.
‘Playing at home is a big advantage and St Paul’s are not happy about it. We have reported our feelings to the Jersey Football Association. We want the game moved. It’s a Channel Islands cup final and it should not be played at the home of the champions in either island.’
