Call for Bailiff to resign
Thursday 17th April 2008, 12:00AM BST.
THE FATHER of one of the victims of a serial sex offender has called for the Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache to resign.
It comes after former honorary policeman Roger Holland was jailed last week for two years after admitting a series of sexual assaults on eight young girls over two decades.
The father – who does not wish to named to protect the identity of his daughter – is also ‘disgusted’ at the length of the sentence given to Holland in the Royal Court.
In 1992 Holland, previously a St John Ambulance volunteer, openly declared the fact that he was a convicted paedophile when he applied to become an honorary policeman.
Although concerns about his criminal convictions were raised by Sir Philip Bailhache in his role then as Attorney General, Holland was allowed to carry on.
