Avenue altered to make it safer
Friday 18th April 2008, 12:00AM BST.
AN accident hotspot is being re-engineered to make it safer for motorists and pedestrians.
The central reservation at Bel Royal on Victoria Avenue is in the process of being widened and the traffic system at the burger bar car park will be changed.
Highway maintenance manager Tristan Dodd said that the work would make the area much safer.
‘We are increasing the width of the central reservation for a few reasons,’ he said. ‘It will increase the separation between the two flows of traffic and reduce the risk of cars crossing over in potential head-on collisions.’
