Buses are not value for money – Deputy
Friday 18th April 2008, 12:00AM BST.
BUS passengers are not getting value for money out of the £4 million the States put into the service every year, says Deputy Roy Le Herissier.
A fortnight ago it was revealed that bus passengers are getting a £4 million subsidy out of the States for the
Connex service, with the States getting ฃ3 million in fares to offset the total
ฃ7 million payment.
But Deputy Le Herissier said that the deal was not providing value for money.
After putting questions to Transport Minister Guy de Faye in the States, Deputy Le Herissier said: ‘Bus passengers are not getting a ฃ4 million bus service out of it. One of the great reforms was to recast the route system and every time they want to change the routes they basically have to offer Connex more money.’
