ANDY CHAPMAN has retained the three-positional Island championship for smallbore rifle – but only by one point from Richard Bouchard.
Chapman started well on St John’s Shooting Club’s Butlin Range, taking the lead in the prone section with196 ex 200, with Jon Tarrant on 191.
However, the standing section is very difficult and Bouchard took a four-point lead, putting in 157
compared to Chapman’s 147 ahead of the kneeling section.
Jon Tarrant was the top scorer in the kneeling with 173 but Chapman hit 169, five better than Bouchard – just enough to pip him to the title. Johnny Bouchard, Richard’s son, was third overall followed by Allan Quenault and Jon Tarrant.
St Ouen won the inter-parish smallbore rifle competition, despite being pushed all the way by St John.
