Oliver (12) feathers his nest
Saturday 19th April 2008, 12:00AM BST.
A BUDDING young farmer will be proudly selling eggs from his very own ducks at St Aubin’s farmers’ market today.
Oliver Woodall (12) has been rearing 20 ducks for the last six months and will be selling the eggs for only the second time at today’s market, where he shares a stall with farmer Nick Barber of Le Marinel Farm.
Mr Barber said that Oliver had been helping out around the farm for a while and that he was experienced at working at the market stall.
‘Oliver’s dad is also in the farming industry and it’s encouraging to see a youngster show an interest,’ he said. ‘We bought him the ducklings about six months ago and he has been feeding them since then. The ducks are now giving eggs, and this is just the second time that he will have taken them to market.’
