Abuse cases blocked, claims Senator
Monday 21st April 2008, 12:00AM BST.
POLICE warrants and cases for prosecution in the historic child abuse inquiry have been blocked by prosecutors and judges, according to former Health Minister Stuart Syvret.
The Senator, who alleges ‘a complete breakdown in the system of checks and balances among prosecuting authorities and the judiciary in child protection’, has tabled a set of formal questions for Home Affairs Minister Wendy Kinnard and Attorney General William Bailhache for next week’s States sitting.
The questions have not yet been formally accepted on the States Order Paper for 29 April.
