Agathangelou hits gold
Thursday 24th April 2008, 12:00AM BST.
JERSEY badminton player Mariana Agathangelou ended her season winning gold and bronze medals in Sussex at the weekend.
Still a junior, Agathangelou has only competed in senior tournaments this season while studying for a degree at Bath University, where she will receive her ‘full blue’ in sport later this month.
In Sussex, at the Elite tournament, Agathangelou partnered Gabby White to the women’s doubles final where they defeated full-time players Heather Olver and Sam Ward two-straight.
In the mixed doubles, partnered by Andrew Ellis, not Agathangelou’s usual partner, they were defeated 2-1 by Heather Olver and Matthew Honey with their set defeats being 22-20 and 21-18.
