Champion cow’s owner joins pleas to keep the ban
Friday 25th April 2008, 12:00AM BST.
THE owner of a prize-
winning Jersey cow has written to States Members asking them to vote against lifting a ban on bull semen importation.
Kate Le Ruez is the owner of the Supreme Champion at last May’s Island Spring Cattle Show and in a document circulated to the Island’s 53 politicians, she outlines her concerns that it is ‘not worth the risk of losing such a unique, historic herd’.
‘I don’t feel that people are getting both sides of the story,’ she said. ‘There is a need for the issue to be more open because the majority of dairy producers are against the importation of semen.’
