Manhunt: Prisoner on the run

A MANHUNT is under way for an escaped prisoner who has gone on the run the day before his Royal Court appearance.

The public have been warned not to approach Darren Mc-Cormack, who was due in court this morning for indictment on drug smuggling charges, and to call police immediately if he is spotted.

Officers are searching the Island and watching the ports to see if he tries to leave Jersey.

On Wednesday, McCormack (29) applied for and received permission to leave La Moye prison yesterday afternoon to attend the funeral of a friend. Magistrate Ian Le Marquand agreed to the request and varied McCormack’s bail conditions from a custodial remand at La Moye to let him attend the funeral.

He was expected back at the prison yesterday afternoon, but failed to arrive.
