Jersey join the elite of London
Monday 28th April 2008, 12:00AM BST.
JERSEY RFC are now a London I Divisional side.
Winning promotion on Saturday, in front of a 2000-plus crowd at St Peter, they beat Staines 15-0 in the play-off between the runners-up of London South II and London North II.
And they deserved their win, according to Staines’ player-coach Eddie Jones after the match was over.
‘We gave it everything. I can’t complain. We had ten new guys in from the team we had last year but this was arguably one game too many. It isn’t easy In London I, but if Jersey keep their key players, they’ll do OK. Hopefully, in another two years, we’ll be up there with them.’
