Man charged in child abuse inquiry
Tuesday 29th April 2008, 12:00AM BST.
THREE charges have been brought against the 68-year-old man arrested yesterday in connection with the historical child abuse inquiry.
Claude James Donnelly, of Petite Route des Mielles, St Brelade, was due to appear in the Magistrate’s Court this morning.
He has been charged with raping a 12-year-old girl; indecently assaulting a girl aged between 12 and 15 years; and procuring a girl aged between 12 and 15 to commit an act of gross indecency on him. The charges relate to a period between 1971 and 1974.
The States Police say it is possible that further charges will follow.
Donnelly is the second man to be charged in the ongoing child abuse inquiry, but the police have said that this case is not connected directly to the investigation at the former Haut de la Garenne children’s home.
