They’re in the money

THE Barclay Brothers continue to be the wealthiest Channel Islanders, according to this year’s Sunday Times Rich List.
The owners of Brecquou (ranked 40th), who have recently been fighting a feudal battle in Sark, are reported to have lost around £100 million from a stake in the InterContinental Hotel chain.They are down from 30th last year but retain a personal fortune of ฃ1.7 billion.
Top of the Jersey property scene are the Clarke family (down from 151 to 158th), whose ownership of ‘large tracts of St Helier’ and rising property prices retain their ฃ500 million fortune.
Also on the list, down from 351 to 397th, are Tom Scott and family, said to have made ฃ41 million from last year’s sale of the CI Traders Group and with a total personal fortune of ฃ200 million.
