Andre to lead Muratti bid
Wednesday 30th April 2008, 12:00AM BST.
ST PAUL’S defender Stuart Andre will captain Jersey in the Cimandis Muratti Vase final for the first time on Monday.
Andre, who was captain in Jersey’s 7-0 Muratti semi-final win against Alderney in March, due to the absence of the injured Dave Brodie, is no stranger to the captaincy role having skippered Jersey at Star Trophy, under-18 and under-21 levels.
The central defender, a strong candidate for the Coca-Cola Combination’s Players’ Player of the Year this season, said: ‘It’s an honour as a local lad; I’m delighted and I’m sure I’ll be extremely proud on the day.
‘It’s great recognition, too, but it’s not all about me it’s about the team and hopefully Jersey will go on and win the game. Everyone in the squad is continuing to work hard and we’re all now looking forward to the game.’
