Parishioners say yes to pub licence renewal
Wednesday 30th April 2008, 12:00AM BST.
THE request for a renewal of a town pub licence was unanimously supported by parishioners yesterday.
The owners of Bond Hotel Ltd have applied to the Licensing Bench to have its first category licence for Bond’s Bar, 14 Bond Street, reinstated after a three-week suspension.
At a town assembly last night, 16 parishioners voted to recommend to the Licensing Bench that the licence be reinstated.
They heard that a new manager with ten years’ experience in the trade, South African Arnold Wotherspoon, intended to
ensure a rigorous training programme for staff and that Bond’s would be well managed from now on.
Bond’s licence was revoked on 28 March because the pub breached the licensing law by having drunk people on the premises on 8 December and for its failure to have a registered manager for a period of time.
