Report bets on bingo

COMMERCIAL bingo should be allowed in Jersey, according to a States report.

After conducting an Islandwide survey, the Shadow Gambling Commission also suggests that licensed betting shops should be open on a Sunday and that there should be more choice of gaming machines.

The commission has made its suggestions after compiling a study into reforming the Island’s gambling laws.

The majority of the faith groups surveyed and a few anonymous and single respondents were against Sunday gambling. One stated that Sunday should be maintained as a day of reflection and for the family.

Those for Sunday gambling argued that anyone with a home computer and internet connection could place bets any day of the week.
