Complaint to police by Senator

FORMER Health Minister Stuart Syvret has lodged a formal complaint to the police, claiming that senior civil servants ‘perverted the course of justice’ by covering up abuse in homes.

Senator Syvret says that Health and Social Services Committee minutes from 1999, revealed by the JEP yesterday, prove that politicians were not given the full story.

Following yesterday’s report that the committee in 1999 knew about abuse in the Blanche Pierre home run by Jane and Alan McGuire, Senator Syvret said that if they had been given the full written report by UK expert Dylan Southern into abuse at the Le Squez home referred to in the minutes, heads would have rolled and a wider investigation would have begun much earlier.
