Search warrant refused in abuse investigation

THE police historical abuse team have been refused a search warrant for part of their investigation, it has been revealed.
The application for the warrant was refused because it did not fall within the rules set down in the Police Procedures and Criminal Evidence Law.
Home Affairs Minister Wendy Kinnard revealed this week that the warrant had been rejected in an answer to a written question filed by former Health Minister Stuart Syvret on Tuesday.
She also told the States that the only other warrant requested – an arrest warrant, believed to be for a suspect – had been granted.
