Rubbish warning
Wednesday 7th May 2008, 12:00AM BST.
THE streets of town could be littered with rubbish from overflowing bins by the end of the Liberation weekend as a result of the closure of the Bellozanne incinerator for emergency repairs.
The incinerator is due to close from tomorrow evening until next Tuesday and there is limited space to store rubbish while it is not in operation.
As a result, fully laden St Helier parish refuse trucks risk being turned away from the dump if St Helier residents ignore pleas to drastically reduce the amount of rubbish they put in bins.
The parish say that residents should hold on to ‘clean waste’ and only dump dirty waste like nappies and food, if possible.
