Fighting for life after a dip in sea
Tuesday 13th May 2008, 2:59PM BST.
A MAN is fighting for his life after his heart stopped when he jumped into the sea to cool off from the hot afternoon sun yesterday.
Tourists and sunbathers battled to save the 45-year-old man’s life after the shock of cold sea is believed to have stopped his heart and caused him to suffer from hypothermia.
It is thought that the man, who had been sunbathing by La Frégate café in St Aubin’s Bay, went to cool off in the sea but collapsed after he entered the freezing water.
Police say that it looks as though the water was too cold for him and that ‘it might have been too much of a shock’.
