Ladies’ match play down to last eight

ELAINE PUSHMAN was taking on Olivia Jordan Higgins in the quarter-finals of the women’s golf championship today.
Pushman defeated Sally Adams 7 and 5 in the event, sponsored by HSBC, and Jordan-Higgins beat Virginia Austin Walker 5 and 3 to set up the tie at La Moye Golf Club.
Current champion Jenny Deeley beat Hanna Day 6 and 5 and will now play Diane Carter, who defeated Karin Study 7 and 6, for a spot in the semi-finals.
Others hoping to progress include Gloria Paradiso, who surpassed the challenge of Suzanne Trower 4 and 3, as she takes on Sheila Smith who beat Carole Upton 7 and 6.
Corinne Ramskill, who defeated Yvonne Rodger 6 and 5, is up against last year’s finalist Alex Mollin, who yesterday beat Juanita Adlington 3 and 2.
