Around 50 drivers who use the snack bar in the Airport arrivals hall have refused to spend any more of their cash in the café since the price of a cup of coffee increased from £1.15 to £1.50.

Danny Kevan, a member of the Jersey Taxi Drivers Association, said that there was a lot of discontentment among drivers at the moment.

He said: ‘The main reason we are boycotting the World News café is that their prices are far too high. None of the taxi drivers are buying tea, coffee or anything else from there. Some drivers would spend £25 a week in the café and if you multiply that by the 50 who use it – that is over £1,000. How can they justify lumping an increase onto coffee like that?’

News of the boycott comes just a day after businesses have asked the public not to blame them for soaring food costs.

Thats rich coming from them who charge over the odd prices compared to everywhere else in the world. I have travelled by taxi in europe for 50 miles for the same price as a taxi ride from town to St.Ouens

I don’t blame them! I worked at the Airport for over 30 years, leaving in 1998 and it was over-priced then!

Just tell it’s the same price as a cup of coffee in London, That’s what they do when we query fares… :0)
