Minister backs police inquiry
Tuesday 20th May 2008, 2:59PM BST.
INVESTIGATING officers in the Haut de la Garenne inquiry have the full backing of the Home Affairs Minister following the revelation that they stayed silent about the piece of ‘child’s skull’ which could now turn out to be wood or coconut.
Senator Wendy Kinnard said that now is not the time to question the police investigation into alleged child abuse at Haut de la Garenne.
In a statement released to the JEP, Senator Kinnard said that she fully supported Deputy Chief Officer Lenny Harper following criticism of him in the national media this weekend.
Her comments came after it emerged that the States police knew six weeks ago that the ‘remains of a child’ found at Haut de la Garenne were unlikely to be bone.
