Fire tragedy appeal is set up
Thursday 29th May 2008, 2:54PM BST.
ISLANDERS are being asked to help a mother who lost her three-year-old daughter in a house fire last week.
Daphne Quinn woke from days in intensive care to be told that her daughter Lillie’Mai’s life support machine had been turned off 18 hours after the fire in Mont Cochon.
Now, a week after the blaze, Deputy Sean Power is urging Island-ers to donate to the Lillie’Mai Fund and help Ms Quinn to rebuild her life. He said: ‘The whole family are struggling. This has really been an absolute tragedy.
‘Daphne is recovering physically and may not be too far away from being discharged, but she is obviously devastated by what has happened. After the fire I was contacted by a friend of hers who asked if we could start an appeal, and the family gave their backing.’
