HSBC sells Library Place site

THE historic HSBC offices in Library Place have been sold.

The building was sold to a local investor for £2.5 million, subject to leasing it back short-term to the bank.
The bank will be in the premises until 2009, before they move their retail banking operations to a state-of-the-art branch in King Street, opposite BHS.

It has not been confirmed whether the bank’s commercial banking operation will move to King Street or not.
Listed as a site of special Interest, the Library Place building was originally built for occupation by the London City and Midland Bank in the 19th century.

Local property agent Buckley & Co dealt with the sale of the building and managing director Simon Buckley said: ‘This sale demonstrates the healthy market for good quality office space in St Helier.
