Watch out, the days of a corrupt and greedy regime like ours are numbered

WHY are the Council of Ministers afraid to allow an Island vote on the soon to be vacant post of Chief Minister?
Most European countries have held a referendum in recent years. Boris Johnson was elected to the Mayorship of London by the people of London. If he does not shape up he will be removed by the same people.
Gordon Brown will be removed shortly, partially because he reneged on a promised referendum, and also because he has been robbing the pension funds since 1997. All done democratically.
Had the people of Jersey been allowed a say, the present Chief Minister would not have come close. In the last election he faced, he struggled into last place in the poll.
The present system of allowing the ministers to choose their own leader is undemocratic. Any person in high office must be put there by the wishes of the majority of the people. Any other method is cheating. No one should be elected by a handful of yes men, bag men, self-seekers or brown noses.
Senator Terry Le Sueur says that he does not want to be elected by popularity alone. As if. This is the man who put duty on all fuel except marine fuel, ‘in order to encourage the industry’. I have missed something there.
The same man said: ‘Even if 100,000 people vote against GST it will still go through.’ The arrogance is breathtaking.
Criticism is unfair unless alternatives are presented. Personally, I would like to see Deputy Roy Le Hérissier toss his hat into the ring and Simon Crowcroft has more than proved his worth.
All this, however, may be academic, as I believe the real ‘shafting’ will come from Brussels. The EU have got greedy, corrupt regimes like Jersey firmly in their sights.

Unfortunatly we were all mislead at the last elections; I believed that there was no party politics in Jersey, I was wrong! The Raving Loonies got in and took all the top positions!!!
