‘It won’t make any difference’ – Harcourt director
Tuesday 10th June 2008, 2:58PM BST.
OVERSEAS legal disputes will not have any impact on projects in Jersey, according to Patrick Power, director of Harcourt Developments.
He has hit back at the recent criticism towards the Irish-based company following the controversial debate in the States.
Mr Power wants to reassure Islanders that they have the financing to fund the Esplanade Square masterplan, despite concerns from a report prepared by Price Waterhouse Coopers.
Some politicians have called for an up-to-date report into Harcourt’s finances but Mr Power said that they had the finances to fund the project.
He said that he did not think that the reports into their financial background were fair. ‘This project is backed with financial guarantees,’ he said.
‘This is one of the best projects in Jersey and the case in Nevada is totally irrelevant to Jersey. We are very excited about this project and we have been developing in Jersey for a number of years now.’
He added: ‘We have got the green light to go ahead with the most exciting and largest transactions and developments to take place in Jersey and it is going to be superb for the people of the Island.’
