Beeches and Saints set the early pace

ST OUEN and Beeches are locked together on 26 points at the top of Division I in the NatWest Evening Cricket League after both won their second league matches of the season last night.
Rob Tewkesbury scored his third consecutive undefeated 51, one came in the JEP KO Cup competition, steering St Ouen to a five-run victory against St John at LQ1.
Tewkesbury clouted four sixes and one four in his innings and he received good support from Mark Tribe for the third wicket; Tribe scoring 35 including two sixes and four boundaries helping St Ouen to a 14-over total of 131.
Beeches beat Ashburton by six wickets on FB1 with an over to spare. Richard Parker top-scored for Ashburton with 26 in a total of 119 for seven. Teenager Tom Coward, Marico Kemp and T Van Vauren all taking two wickets apiece.
Peter Scott and Dean Douglas top-scored for Beeches with 42 and 34 not out respectively.
