Have States Members not seen the technology of Le Petit Train?

From Roger Bale.
NO sooner is GST up and running than certain States Members are seeking ways in which this money can be frittered away.

Don’t the States Members proposing a tram or other steel-wheeled form of transport know that this form of conveyance, which relies on massive weights to keep smooth steel wheels in adhesion with smooth steel tracks, has been long eclipsed by silent pneumatic tyres and paved road surfaces?

Have States Members not seen the technology on daily display with the Petit Train where each towed trailer follows the exact line of the leading unit without the need for rails?

Are the States Members not aware of the hazard rails will create in a road surface provided for cyclists and other two-wheeled vehicles?

That States Members are even considering frittering taxpayer’s money in this outdated, unnecessary exercise does not bode well, and confirms the view that GST at 3% is the thin edge of a very thick wedge to separate Jersey residents from their hard-earned cash.
