5,000 pupils take part in Environment Week
Saturday 14th June 2008, 9:56AM BST.
LE Rocquier School has won a major environmental award for a project which includes regularly cleaning two lanes in its parish.
The other major winner in the Jersey Environment Week 2008 awards, presented on Thursday night, was Springfield School for their allotment in which they grow fruit and vegetables for themselves and are working towards selling them to members of the community.
Both schools have received £1,000 to invest in their green projects to develop them further.
At a presentation at the Durrell wildlife park, the head teachers of those schools and five others received awards from the Lieutenant-Governor, Lieutenant-General Andrew Ridgway.
