The Seymour Group are seeking planning approval for 32 self-catering apartments, an indoor bowls hall and a multi-purpose ball court. The holiday apartments will be built on the old Mont St Claire Hotel site on Belvedere Hill and the bowls hall will be located behind the Aquadome, if plans are approved.

The owners say that the project would enhance the leisure facilities at the hotel, which has recently invested in a new water sport attraction. The FlowRider shoots out water at 20-30 mph over a large rubber slope to create the effect of an ocean wave, which people surf over.

It is on a smaller scale to the indoor wave machine planned at the Watersplash, which the Seymour Group revealed earlier this week. Owner David Seymour said that the plans for the Merton would improve occupancy out of season and boost event-led tourism.
