Field of dreams inspires Prosser
Tuesday 17th June 2008, 2:58PM BST.
STEPHEN Prosser recovered from major knee surgery and persistent injuries to run a season’s best in the 100m at the weekend – against Olympic hopeful Dwain Chambers.
The 20-year-old ran a superb 11.23 seconds in Saturday’s event at Kingston, as part of the men’s Sportingbet Channel Islands Athletics Club national league campaign.
The team is competing in Division III of the British Athletics League and finished sixth after two excellent relay performances.
Prosser – who managed a great performance despite a strong head wind – finished in sixth place, 0.92 seconds behind Chambers. He said: ‘Running with Dwain Chambers was a really good experience – I was pretty sure I wasn’t going to make it to the semis or the finals so I was hoping to get in a heat with him. I ran a few lanes outside him but I could see him out of the corner of my eye so it was a good motivator.’
