It’s now easier to see how revolutions started

From Christian Traufer.
‘OUT of control, deficient and undisciplined …’ probably one of the more restrained, relatively polite and certainly totally accurate descriptions to come from Senator Syvret about our Council of Ministers just recently.

This has now certainly been well and truly endorsed by the actions of Senator Kinnard, as detailed on the same page.

What on earth are these people playing at? Now it would appear that they are intent not only on regarding the general public as gullible fools, but also as pawns to be used in some form of grandiose high-powered, self-important political game. This surely must be the icing on the cake.

I am sure that by now the vast proportion of the general public are sick and tired and even disgusted by the recent series of total fiascos which have been brought to light. Surely we must all now finally realise that enough is enough.

The saddest thing is that these bumbling nincompoops, obviously so wrapped up in their own importance and self-esteem, seem to be constantly trying to promote the idea of Jersey as being a well-run, sensible and financially secure environment in which to entice financial and legal professions from abroad, not that I am sure that the majority of Islanders would think that we need it.

If I was an influential member of any overseas corporation who had access to details of the series of events which have transpired recently, I might possibly have second thoughts about investment in what would on the surface appear to be some sort of financial banana republic run by incompetent mini-dictators.

The pen is mightier than the sword, and to endorse the feelings of Mr Shelton, Mr de Carteret and Mrs Jackson, all contributors to your letters page who have referred in some way or other to the autumn elections over the past few days, every self-respecting Islander eligible and capable enough to draw a simple cross on a sheet of paper should use this very powerful right and symbol to ensure that the politicians responsible for the chaotic and disturbing débâcles of the past few weeks are well and truly removed from public office.

It must be very easy these days for the average Islander to understand how revolutions are spawned.
