Views sought on police handling of abuse inquiry

ISLANDERS are being invited to give their opinion on how the major investigation into child abuse is being handled by the police team.
The independent advisory group set up in March to oversee the work of the historical abuse inquiry team are inviting members of the public to give their views in confidence about methods employed by the police team during the investigation.
Data protection commissioner Emma Martins (pictured), who is one of the members of the group, said today that the setting up of the panel was a new concept which they were approaching with open minds.
‘We realise that although we are acting as a conduit to the community in relation to the investigation, we may not represent all members of the public, and so we are taking this step to gather their opinions, comments and perspectives,’ she said.
