The 1,600 mile Round Britain Powerboat Race has only been held twice before, in 1969 and 1984, and has been brought back by the Cowes Organising Committee for a third time.

Roy heads a four-strong crew that includes Jersey champion Toby Clayson, Jersey Powerboat Club member Dave Myles and Jean Rihou, who finished third in the 1997 European Championships.

Team Jersey will race in a 28 foot Ocke Mannefelt-designed Batboat, powered by a pair of 200hp Mercury Racing engines, with a 90mph+ top speed and a range of 250 miles.
