Indoor surfing facilities– at St Ouen?

I THINK the Watersplash plans are far too extensive, urbanised, rather like Pontins, and with a great ugly observation tower smack on the seafront. I thought St Ouen’s Bay was a special area, so why are these plans for double the existing area?

I cannot understand the need for indoor surfing facilities right on the doorstep of a beautiful bay with existing natural surfing available. Are today’s surfers becoming big softies,
or has everything now got to be ‘on demand’?

Apparently someone from the Eden Project helped with the design. I found this surprising, because of the multitudinous hard, straight edges. The sand dunes are soft, rounded and sloping, with not a right angle in sight, ditto the sea!

I am also concerned with the plight of the wildlife. This scheme will clearly attract vast numbers of people, along with all the attendant noise, movement and fumes. Regarding the scarcity of parking, apparently it is because there will only be excessive parking occasionally.

The coastal areas are the greatest asset of this Island, but I do wonder for how much longer.
