Haut de la Garenne inquiry: Couple arrested

A COUPLE were today arrested on suspicion of child abuse in connection with the Haut de la Garenne inquiry.
The 70-year-old man and 69-year-old woman were taken in to police headquarters for questioning this morning. They were arrested at their home in the Island at about 8 o’clock this morning.
Detectives have not released their names, but confirmed that they were being questioned following allegations that they committed ‘a number of grave and criminal assaults on children’.
It is alleged that the crimes were committed on children within the care system in the 1960s and 70s. There are no allegations of sexual abuse against the couple.
