Senator Kinnard has been bullied
Tuesday 24th June 2008, 2:55PM BST.
From Johanna Pallot.
WHAT a shame Home Affairs Minister Wendy Kinnard has been subjected to intense bullying involving the detention of suspects (JEP, 18 June).
Who will take the responsibility if an offender is released prematurely and without charge, who then goes on to harm someone, because the police’s authority and the powers afforded to them have been compromised and overruled by a system of government which has failed so far and upset a lot of people?
What I find disturbing is that the same bullying behaviour levelled at Senator Stuart Syvret is being directed at Senator Kinnard over an obscure little order which doesn’t really need to be amended but will be because it works.
The ensuing row has provided the Council of Ministers with a much-needed excuse to attack Senator Kinnard in the hope of treating themselves to some respite from their own failings.
How much longer can this go on?

Johanna. I wonder if you’d have the same opinion were you to be arrested falsely and detained for an indefinite period (say 6 months) whilst the police went about their investigations. I think not!
