Team Jersey turn on the power
Wednesday 25th June 2008, 2:59PM BST.
TEAM Jersey finally have found their sea legs and sailed a cracking race to finish second in leg four of the Round Britain Powerboat Race.
The crew managed a podium place yesterday in the Sports Boat and RIBs class (27ft-33ft) over the 113 nautical mile course from Bangor to Oban. They are now eighth in the class.
Despite another shaky start, Toby Clayson and Neil Jackson pulled off a top speed of 80 mph and arrived in the port in an overall 13th place – just half an hour behind leg leaders wettpunkt.com.
They said: ‘The race start was at 10 am, but due to a technical problem with the GPS, Team Jersey started the race at 10.10 am. Therefore we had to catch up with the rest of the racing fleet.
