The tourism office was fine where it was

Thursday 26th June 2008, 3:00PM BST.

From D Gillard.
SO fewer visitors call in at the new tourism office (JEP, 6 June). Is anyone surprised?

We had a perfectly good tourism office in Liberation Square. Tourists came from the ferry terminals enjoying a pleasant walk around the yacht marina, across the pedestrian crossing already provided. They got their information and sat in the sun on comfortable benches.

Try sitting outside the new building in a wind tunnel. There are three metal benches with no backs on them.

Before we let this building go to rack and ruin, let’s have a change of heart. I am sure the ice cream vendor would be a lot happier than where he is now.

It was a disgrace to see the weeds growing in the gutters on Liberation Day. We need another restaurant or pub just like we need a hole in the head.

Completely agree with the tourism office location being a bad descision.I speak to tourists on a daily basis & the general opinion is that the “old site” was the perfect placement for the exact reasons given in this letter by Mr Gillard
