No, no and thrice no!

From Steve Allitt.
LIKE Scott Eastwood (JEP, 20 June), I and many of my friends were born with a surfboard stuck to our feet.

We have travelled the globe chasing the perfect wave, but for some reason are drawn back to that special place that is St Ouen’s Bay. We have all had great nights down at the Splash and probably agree, it is well past its sell-by date.

However, I find Mr Seymour’s plans for an American-style surfing theme park on the beachfront completely out of context with beach life.

To say it will give surfers something to do in the bleak winter months is insulting to all of us. If Mr Seymour were a true surfer he would know that that is when the waves are best and the summer crowds have long gone.

To me and most people I have spoken to, this is not a surfer’s vision, but the vision of a hotelier/property developer who wants to make as much money as he can out of a prime beachfront site.

If a new building is to be built, it should have as little impact as possible, not this monstrosity that seems all about getting a hotel or apartments on one of the most beautiful beaches Jersey has to offer.
