Cup-holders St Helier RFC recorded a remarkable eight-wicket win against HSBC Jersey with Hugo Bishop scoring a century to steer St Helier home with two overs to spare in a match that produced a massive 365 runs.

HSBC were well served by Pat Kelly (45), Zack Zaheer (45) and Robert Knapman (62) but despite an impressive 182 for four wickets on the scoreboard Bishop undone them with a fine 110 which included a hugely impressive eight sixes and nine fours. Knapman’s last three strokes were all sixes.

Richard Gomersall supported well with an undefeated 33, including three boundaries. St Ouen defeated Division II Walkovers by 22 runs at FB2 where St Ouen’s Mark Tribe and Paul Horton featured in a second-wicket stand of 140 runs.

Tribe clouted five sixes and seven fours to score 73 while Horton, who registered his third half century of the season, finished undefeated on 74 after clearing the rope four times together with hitting seven boundaries.

St Ouen’s total of 182 for two proved too much despite a fantastic effort from Walkers’ Andy Dewhurst who finished 99 not out, having hit the ball cleanly throughout to score a dozen boundaries.

St Ouen introduced another teenager to their ranks last night and 15-year-old Joe Bevis contributed by claiming a wicket.

Ryan Driver was again in good form in Pentagon’s 39-run win against Division III Sloggers at Grainville. The ex-professional whacked 35 runs off just 15 balls, 28 off them coming in the final over, including three sixes and two fours.

Earlier Barry Parsons scored 63 runs off 35 balls, his three sixes and four boundaries helping Pentagon to a 15-over total of 158 for four. Parsons also featured in a third-wicket stand of 79 with Rob Searle (26).

Sloggers dug in to finish on 119 for eight with 16-year-old Luke Kellett scoring 33 runs off 23 balls including four boundaries and a six. Driver’s three overs included one maiden and one wicket for 12 runs. Tim Kearsey was the chief wicket-taker with four wickets for 15 runs in three overs.

Martin Higgins struck an undefeated 90 in Hautlians’ 61-run win against Division II G4 Securicor at FB1.
Coming in second ball after John Wiseman went for a golden duck, Higgins whacked eight fours and one six to help his team of a total of 174 for six.

Securicor were kept at bay by some economical bowling all round; teenager Charlie Johnson returning one for eight in three overs while Andy McNaney collected three wickets for 29 runs in his three-over spell.

Durrell won the Division III bottom of the table match against Mourant on Wednesday night by nine wickets at Les Quennevais.

It was a batsman’s wicket with Mourant posting a promising 132 for six with Arnold top-scoring with 41 runs, before he was run out, while Darren Toudic scored 30.

Aston was the pick of the Durrell fielders taking a catch, running two opponents out while also taking a wicket in his only over.

Durrell began their reply with a boundary off the first ball and the maintained a good momentum to reach their winning target in 8.1 overs, Aston hitting a six to win the match and complete and undefeated 50.

Right: Luke Kellet scored 33 for Sloggers at Grainville last night, but it was Pentagon who advanced to next week’s semi-finals
