An odd scenario for Sark

THE article ‘Barclays lose High Court battle on Sark feudalism’ (JEP, 20 June) made interesting reading.
You portray a couple of multi-millionaires leading a campaign for democracy and human rights. This seems an odd scenario indeed. And this supposed liberation movement is in our sister island of Sark, not Burma or Zimbabwe or some other benighted nation.
I visited Sark last month and talked to many Sarkees who did not appear to be clamouring for freedom but were more concerned to preserve their traditional way of life, being conscious of the Barclays’ increasing influence in their Island.
