Child protection: Improvements ‘will all be made’
Tuesday 8th July 2008, 2:59PM BST.
CHIEF Minister Frank Walker has pledged to implement all recommendations of a review of child protection services in Jersey.
And the biggest challenge will be to find a way of appointing a minister with responsibility for children.
Senator Walker welcomed the report by UK expert Andrew Williamson (pictured) that was published last week and said that he would work quickly to put the recommendations into force. ‘We commissioned the review to give us confidence that children were safe and well looked after. It has done that.
‘There is always room for improvement and there is nothing in the review that I can see that will cause great difficulty in putting in place. There will be a positive response,’ he said.
