Under-16 boys Josh Band and Luke Walker defeated Scotland’s No 3 and 4 ranked players in a 3-0 team success while Band and U14 Max Tupper both defeated opponents who are in the Olympic Talent ID squad for London 2012.

Band beat Calum Main 14-12, 11-8, 11-9 while later he came from a game down to win against Steven Fowler.

Team mate Walker dropped just one game to Fowler with the Jersey pair sealing victory with a 3-1 doubles success. Tupper turned in a controlled performance to beat Scotland No 1 Liam O’Shaughnessy 3-0 in the individual section, the latter an Olympic Talent ID squad player.

Jersey’s other three pairings in the U18 and U14 boys and U14 girls were all drawn against top seeds England and they suffered 5-0 defeats

Back in Jersey last week, Jersey Table Tennis Association members took their sport into FCJ Primary School as part of a recruitment drive, supported by Appleby, to help get young players involved in the sport.
