Police sniffer dogs in bunker
Thursday 10th July 2008, 2:59PM BST.
POLICE sniffer dogs were due to be sent into a German bunker today where the police believe children were abused.
Deputy police chief Lenny Harper revealed yesterday that his officers had received six witness reports of six separate incidents of serious sexual crimes in the underground rooms.
The bunker, which is about half a mile from the Haut de la Garenne former children’s home, has been has been declared ‘a potential homicide scene’.
Mr Harper said that that the witnesses alleged that children from the home had been taken to the isolated Occupation look-out post next to Victoria Tower by their carers and were abused in the 1970s and 80s. ‘We have allegations of serious sexual crimes taking place in the bunker,’ he said.
