Miraculous maiden

HSBC Jersey won the S E Guy Memorial Trophy final in spectacular fashion last night by one run against Walkovers at Grainville.

And it was captain Archie Irtizaali who led the bankers to victory bowling a last over maiden to snatch victory in a low-scoring match.

Irtizaali said: ‘It was unbelievable. My previous over I was smacked for 16 runs and I did not think it was fair to give someone else the ball for the last over so I carried on.

‘It was incredible. Bradley Vautier was caught off the first ball and then several balls were played and missed. A great stop and throw by Zach Zaheer resulted in a run out and then we arrived at the last ball with Walkovers still requiring one run to win.
