New body for small business
Tuesday 15th July 2008, 2:00PM BST.
SMALL businesses in Jersey are being invited to join a new forum set up by the Economic Development Department.
The States department says that it is keen to establish regular communication with small firms of ten employees or fewer, which make up around 80% of the Island’s business community.
The department is promising those who are in the forum a ‘clear and direct voice’ that will help influence the development of States policy.
Currently the Jersey Chamber of Commerce has a small business group but there is no Island equivalent of the Federation of Small Businesses in the UK.
Economic Development’s deputy chief executive, Andrew Sugden (pictured), said that the department wanted to assess its business development strategy, which is now two years’ old.
