IAN Black got his Senior National swimming career off to a flying start last weekend – managing two personal bests, an Island record and a top 15 finish in a competition dominated by British Olympic hopefuls.
Black (19) just missed his PB in the 400m individual medley in Liverpool on Saturday, yet placed 13th among Britain’s top senior swimmers with a time of 4.41.47.
He had already smashed his PB by 0.6 seconds and set a new Island record in the 50m breaststroke on Thursday with a time of 30.94, placing him 25th in a field of 38.
In the 100m breaststroke Black again came close to his PB, recording a time of 1.08.06 and a 24th place finish, and swam a fantastic race in the 200m individual medley on Friday night to finish 19th – setting a new PB of 2.11.21 and missing out on the final by a matter of seconds.
